  • is one of the famous temples of Eastern Nepal
  • situated in Chinnamasta VDC, Saptari, 10 km from Rajbiraj and also near to Indian Border

  • This Temple is the main attraction for Nepal and Indian Pilgrims
  • People are likely to come here in Bada Dashain

  • Some thousands of goats are sacrificed here during Dashain
  • Situated on the Northern Bank of Big pond

  • If Statue of Bhagwati is deeply analyzed it becomes clear that it is of ancient time

  • It is believed that In the Karnataka of Southern India King Nanyadev in 1097 A.D. was attacked by Muslims so Patali Putra ran to Mithila via Patna and established kingdom in Simraungarh (Bara)

  • Shakra Singh became king fifth generation of  Nanyadev
  • Shakra Singh made king to his own minor son Harisingh Deo
  • Then Shakra Singh went Saptari to live as a saint life
  • Shakra Singh Deo built Bhagwati temple of own house goddess (kul devi) and named in his own name Shakraehwori Bhagwati
  • In 1349 A.D. Indian Muslims again attacked and they destroyed part of temple and during same time they threw Bhagwati statue in pond and after few days people recovered statue but was headless
